Crimson Horticultural Rarities
Crimson Hort, for short, is an indoor plant haven, made even more fun with apothecary-like delights, local ceramics, and sweet gifts.
Oakland’s Piedmont Avenue is a shining example of what a more localized economy looks like, where small businesses are the majority and corporate enterprises are the exception. From local-owned grocery stores (there are two!), coffee shops (including a 100% vegan one!), restaurants (tons!), health & personal care offices, gyms, clothing stores, bars, tattoo studios, hair salons, and book stores, Piedmont Avenue has it all.
If you’re looking for indoor plants to bring some life and oxygen to your space, Crimson Hort is a wonderful blessing. Not only is their selection wide and healthy, but the folks working there are so kind and knowledgeable. Even if you don’t need plants, they have a great apothecary selection, with earthly oils, soaps, candles, and fragrances (think clean, none of the toxic stuff you find in big stores). Looking for a gift for someone? Get them a plant or something from the apothecary and a card, all available at Crimson Hort.

I honestly have no idea what this plant is called, but its color is striking and a wonderful contrast to all the green.

I know the large plant here is a palm. There may be a spider plant somewhere in here and possibly a mother-in-law tongue (snake plant). I don’t know. Don’t quote me.
Fairly confident I’m looking at an alocasia.
